'24' actor in D.C. -- but not to fight bad guys |
Jack Bauer is known for fighting fictitious terrorists on the small screen. But the actor who plays him on the hit television series "24" came to the nation's capital Sunday not for high-level consultations, but to promote a real-life big-screen documentary.
Sutherland appeared at the DC Independent Film Festival to present the film "I Trust You to Kill Me," depicting the trials of a rock band recorded by Ironworks Music, the record label that Sutherland and music producer Jude Cole founded.
"We get lost in these kind of huge numbers on a show like '24.' You start talking about 14 million people watched your show last night or 30 million people own the DVD. And I think the whole point of this documentary was that certainly from our perspective of music, one person makes a difference," Sutherland told CNN in an interview outside the festival auditorium at the University of the District of Columbia.
In the film, Sutherland decides he will personally manage a European tour for Rocco DeLuca & the Burden, a group with diverse influences.
"I was inspired early on from both literature, art and music all together," singer and musician DeLuca told CNN.
The planned tour -- and Sutherland's determination to take a role in it -- were the launching point for the film's narrative.
"Kiefer said, 'I'll go on tour with Rocco and I'm going to play and I'm going to be their manager,' ... and I'm like, 'Wow, I want to come,' " the film's director, Manu Boyer, told CNN. The film depicts the 32-year-old DeLuca and his group facing the setbacks characteristic of any band striving to establish itself. |
