CHP Recommends Brandy Be Charged With Manslaughter |
It was reported yesterday that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has recommended to local prosecutors that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. TMZ has a source within the CHP, and they say that the department has ruled out mechanical malfunction as the cause of the crash. The source adds that the CHP believes Brandy “was just going too fast” and “was the person at fault”.
If Brandy were to be found guilty of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, she could possibly be facing as much as one year in L.A. County Jail and a $1,000 fine.
The Gossip Girls reported last week that Brandy was involved in a car wreck during the month of December. It should come at no surprise that the charges have not been filed yet. When a fatal car accident occurs, the prosecutors office will not file charges until everything has been thoroughly reviewed. One must also consider the fact that Brandy is a celebrity and everyone is watching, so the local D.A. knows they are on the national stage. If Brandy is officially charges with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, she will mostly likely not face any jail time. These cases are usually pleaded out, instead of going to trial. As for now, the case has now been referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office for review. The real wildcard in the situation is a possible civil suit that could follow.
Whatever turn this story takes next, The Gossip Girls will be there to deliver you the news. |
