| Police to play US Virgin Festival |
The Police are to headline the second Virgin music festival in the US.
The Beastie Boys and Smashing Pumpkins will also headline the festival on 4 and 5 August in Baltimore, Maryland.
Last year's event was held in September but festival organiser Seth Hurwitz told Billboard.com it had been moved this year to accommodate The Police.
It will take place at the same time as Lollapalooza, which is "not ideal", he said. "But given the choice of booking The Police or not we had to go for it."
The pop band launch their reunion tour in Canada on 28 May, reaching the UK in September. The group, who have sold more than 50 million albums, split in 1983. |
